Listed Alternergy Holdings Corp. is jacking up its financials as the Department of Energy (DOE) green-lighted its plan to increase the capacity of its wind project in Rizal province.
The company told the local bourse Wednesday that its unit Alternergy Tanay Wind Corp. (ATWC) received the agency’s go signal to boost the Tanay Wind Power Project’s capacity to 128 megawatts (MW) from 112MW.

“We are pleased to receive the DOE’s approval to increase the registered capacity of our Tanay Wind Power Project. We conducted a technical optimization study which showed that the potential net energy within the production area could generate as much as 128 MW of capacity,” said Knud Hedeager, president of Alternergy Wind Holdings Corporation (AWHC), the sub-holding company of the group’s wind assets which owns 100 percent of ATWC.
Article continues after this advertisementThe company said they would install a total of 16 wind turbine generators with a rated capacity of 8MW each, a feature that Alternergy claimed to be the biggest wind tower to be deployed in the local market.
Article continues after this advertisementAlternergy was confident of establishing this project, especially as it just raised P8 billion in new funds from the Bank of the Philippine Islands and the Security Bank.

ATWC earlier sought the approval of the Energy Regulatory Commission for the construction of a transmission facility designed to link its Tanay wind farm to the Luzon grid, with investments earmarked at P2.2 billion.
Article continues after this advertisementTo ensure the plant could seamlessly inject power into the grid, ATWC has proposed constructing a bus-in connection along the existing San Jose/ Balsik – Tayabas 500 kilovolt transmission line.
The Tanay wind project would mark as the group’s second wind farm in Rizal.
